I've been using Ableton for years, but always with a secondary destructive editor in tow, as a 2nd program (Sound Forge) just for destructive editing, cropping of dead air, and disposing of samples and unwanted audio that I'd never need after cutting up loops.
I am just thinking if I actually need another editor/program if Ableton actually did this?
Is the 'Crop sample' actually destructive?
I heard that it was, which was great so I know that i am just using (and saving) the audio that I see and hear, - then others said it makes a copy and the other audio is left untouched as part of the project?
Then on exit of not saving a mess around session, any recorded audio directly in Ableton I get this pop up :

- Is this cleaning up that dead space of whats not used for me at the end of that session?
I don't really use SoundForge for anything more than cropping say a loop out of 2 minutes of audio, (and knowing that 'dead' 2 minutes is gone) and some mastering at the end
I am now thinking of doing all this in Ableton, especially Live 10 (I am about to upgrade from 9.75). Are there any new features in audio cropping, editing in 10?

Sorry for the obvious question, but after 20 years, you do get stuck in your ways with a separate editor, but think its time I gave up the Ghost!
